Veterans Day Information
Important staff information
Our Veterans Day program this year will be different than in years prior. We will have a program beginning at 10:30 and last approximately 30-35 minutes. The gym floor will have chairs for our guests and the students will need to sit on the floor. All performances will take place either on or in front of the stage.
Seating...
The floor configuration I’m still working on, however we will need room for 70 chairs for our guests. When our chairs arrive tomorrow, Mr. Larry and I will set up a couple different scenarios to see what’s going to provide us the best space for everyone in the gym. I have created one scenario that’s outlined on a page below and we’ll know for sure tomorrow if this is the best option.
Luncheon...
One of the big additions for this day will be the luncheon. The sign-up for what to bring is linked here. There are 60 RSVP’s but we’re going to prepare for 80. So, in total we will have 130 people we’re preparing food for on the 11th. So when you make something think about making something in big portions. The school will provide the meat for the meal.
Eating and serving the meal…
All Veterans and their guests will eat in the cafeteria. We will have enough space for the students to join their families for the meal in the cafeteria but they will be given a sack lunch for their meal. Volunteers will be helping serve the guests.
Student & staff lunches…
On Wednesday, a stack of labels will be in your mailbox. Those labels will need to be filled out for the students who choose to eat a school lunch on Veterans Day. The labels need to be completely filled out and turned into the office by Wednesday afternoon. On Veterans Day, sack lunches will be delivered to the classroom during the program. When the students return to the room, they may eat their lunch. Students who have Veterans attending the luncheon will be allowed to eat with their guests in the cafeteria. Their lunches should remain in the cafeteria for them. A schedule for teacher coverage is outlined on a page below. I want everyone to enjoy this day and get to eat at a decent time so please make sure you read through everything and who will be covering classes and such.
Related Arts Schedule
With the program start time, an adjustment has been made to the Related Arts times for the day. Each teacher will have the same amount of planning and classes on Monday.
The following teachers and staff will provide homeroom teachers coverage in order to get lunch:
Sansom Veazey Turner Corns
Littlefield Butt Dotson Garrett
Freeman Ritter Gillock
After the program the listed individuals will allow the identified homeroom teachers below to get their lunch, and then return to the room to eat. The breaks will be short on this day and all times are approximate. (When the teacher returns to the room, the covering teacher/staff will move to the next coverage location)
11:10-11:25
Sansom - Garvin Veazey - Weatherholt Turner - Cotton Corns - Gentry
Littlefield - Bowen Butt - Payne Dotson - Hall Garrett - Riley
Freeman - Price Ritter - Lowery Gillock - Morel
During this time, the non-homeroom teachers, and homeroom teachers not listed, will take the students from the gym back to their classroom. Upon return to the room, the students lunch will be waiting for them. The teacher/staff member will distribute the food to the students.
11:25-11:40
Sansom - Hamilton Veazey - Henson Gillock - Flora
Littlefield - Higdon Dotson - Isenberg Garrett - Wilkins
After the teacher returns, the teachers/staff giving breaks are released to go get lunch.
Teachers and support staff whose names are not listed, you will help each other cover and supervise individual students while each of you goes to get lunch. Please work together so that students are supervised and everyone is able to get lunch as well.
