Security Cameras - the addition of security cameras for our campus is huge. Knowing the actions of those who try to enter, deface, or vandalize our property will be caught on camera is a major relief. As much of a blessing it is to have cameras, it's also brings along a learning curve...now everything that happens in our building will be recorded. Please know this...the cameras will not be utilized as a 'got ya' system to spy on your every move. I will be able to use the cameras to understand what happened in situations where either the school building (or materials) has been affected or a student/teachers/staff members safety or well being has been jeopardized. I talked with Mrs. Brooks at McNeal after their camera installation and she said, "It makes everyone aware of what they look like and how they carry themselves when you see it on camera." So please know these cameras are here to help us understand what has happened, by whom and to whom it has happened if a situation occurs. If you have any further questions, concerns, or thoughts about the security cameras, please let me know.
PD on Tuesday - Please double check and make sure you have calendar invites for your PD sessions on Tuesday. All of our sessions will be at the Junior High and lunch will be on sight. Please make sure to bring your Chromebook/laptop and something to write with as well.
Social Media Coverage - Mrs. McCoy at Central Office would love to help you get your message and classroom activities out there for the public to see. She would be happy to come to your room and send out pictures, videos, etc. on twitter or facebook. She checks our living calendar each week to look for big things coming up, but if it's not on the calendar she doesn't know about it. So, if you're doing creative, insightful, or anything you'd like to be covered, please email Mrs. McCoy.
Impact KY Working Conditions Survey - Please make sure to take this survey as it will give us great feedback as to the working conditions and culture of our building. This survey needs to be completed by Feb. 21st.
School Safety Information - The state DOCJT compliance officer will be making a visit to Potter Gray sometime either next week or the week following. At that time he will complete a safety audit of our school. The one BIG thing that I need everyone to make sure we are doing is locking your door and keeping your door shut during instructional hours (8-3). I will also be placing a new emergency exit plan sign in your room. This sign will replace the current sign and is in better compliance with the school safety audit. Thank you to Mrs. Gentry for helping create and modify these plans.
PLC - Next Thursday's PLC will take place during your common 30 minute Related Arts time. Because we are missing Tuesday, ALL homeroom teachers will have PLC time on the 23rd. Mrs. Sandra Cagle from Curriculum Associates will be here to discuss and answer questions about iReady. Bring questions with you if you have them. If you don't have them, I will have some things for Mrs. Cagle to discuss with you.
