We are all on a journey, and holidays often serve as important mile markers along the way. As we age, gain more experience, and just generally travel further through life, dynamics change. What once was may not be. Or what never existed to begin with now exists. Our needs shift. Our expectations shift. Some cannot wait for the this season to arrive, while others dread the thought of it all.
Regardless of where we sit on this continuum, we all leave and then return to our school. Our family here. And this is most certainly true for our students. They too have a wide variety of experiences and expectations as they leave for winter break. Be gentle with one another. Gifts will fade, but lasting relationships only grow in importance over time.
