Mini-Sabbatical

Occasionally, I’ll learn from a college professor about a year sabbatical.  Sign me up right?!  A year under normal salary, benefits, etc., to learn, grow, and get better at your craft.  Now, it’s not a year vacation.  There are expectations to accepting the opportunity.

I wish district’s had the resources to offer such an opportunity.  I have never met a fellow educator (particularly those that take on administrative or coaching roles) that didn’t say something to the effect “I’ve learned so much from being in classrooms!  I wish I had this experience as a classroom teacher.”

Let’s try something…I am willing to provide a sub for one teacher that would like to have an entire week to observe in classrooms within our building.  Together we will decide what that looks like and the reflection to take place.

Yes, I was the teacher that despised being out of my classroom.  I get it on a very personal level, but knowing what I know now, I was short-sighted in terms of the growth gained by learning in other colleagues’ classrooms.

If you are interested email me with the subject Mini-Sabbatical! (Yes, I did use the phrase email me…)
