You Are Enough

For some reason I distinctly remember my second marathon the most, Chicago 2005.  I remember running late to get into the starting corral with oh….40,000 people making it very stressful.  I remember worrying about the Gatorade I drank on the walk in and how I’d surely have to take a bathroom break early.  I remember the guy running next to me at the start yelling because his Garmin wouldn’t connect (freaking out mostly).  A lady behind me started crying because her shins were hurting something awful.  At mile 13, I was running alongside a guy that was at least 6’5” and weighed a great deal more than I did, yet I couldn’t go any faster than him and I thought how is he out running me?!  Then, at mile 15 an older gentleman running beside me grabbed my arm, stumbled and went to ground.

I finished two minutes off of my target time, but just like a lot of everything in life distractors are imminent.  The same can be said of our finishing stretch of the 2017-2018 school year.  We are weary…it has been a marathon…distractors become more noticeable and irritable than ever…YET, our students have grown as a result of the training plan.  Our students are exactly where they’re supposed to be in accordance with their learning curve.

Do not let the distractors win and diminish the joy of these final days with your students!
