This is not a Political Post

Let me preface this by saying I have friends and colleagues on both sides of the gun debate.  I try to be objective and honor those opinions.  I also try to be thoughtful in examining these powerful issues that continue to define our society, for better and for worse.  On Saturday, millions of people gathered all over the globe as part of #MarchforOurLives.  What awes me are the students behind this movement.  Whether or not one supports or refutes their stance on the issue(s), I cannot help but admire their passion and willingness to take a stand.  And look at all they have moved into motion.  They even resisted donations or help from individuals or organizations that did not align with their principles.  These are teenagers in front of a worldwide moment.

Our youth are a precious commodity, and without the educators that supported their intellectual growth, it is doubtful they’d be representing themselves in the manner displayed on Saturday.  Our roles are so pivotal to the success of this nation and to the success of democratic ideals.  In spite of the current climate in our state and abroad, abundant evidence exists every day that says what we do matters…more than we’ll ever know.
