Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

Welcome Our Newest Teacher Leaders!

At this time we have one certified opening that is posted.  This position must post for 30 days prior to hiring.  This position will be the 4th member of the 5th grade team for '17-'18.

  #KYGoDigital

I know there is trepidation moving forward in this digital shift.  Understandable.  Fear not, or cause yourself undue stress.  I will soon link you to a Google Site that will serve as our instructional hub.  The overall goal, working to realize the dream (or at least mine) of a one-stop shop.  This Blog will be that one stop shop.  I will link all things PG from this page!

The site is in development and will be our main source for standards, deconstruction of the standards, common formative/formative assessments, best-practices, KCAS aligned lessons and resources.  And most importantly, a place for everyone to share their work and for PLCs to collaborate.  This is vital for horizontal and vertical alignment purposes.

Here are amazing resources from other Teacher Leaders harnessing the power of digital tools:

Who Doesn't Love a Good Theme?!

I'm a believer in a good theme.  We need a theme for the '17-'18 SY.  Give us your best theme idea for the upcoming year ----> Here!

As classroom teachers, we hear constantly about 21st century learning - we want students to be creative, collaborative, critical thinkers, and communicators. Then we ask them to sit quietly, while we explain everything, and tell them exactly how it’s to be done. It doesn’t have to be that way. Students are curious by nature, we just need to provide opportunities for them to be curious. They are amazing problem solvers when given the opportunity to create rather than consume information, to talk to each other rather than sit passively listening. They just need inspiration. Given one Google Doc, what could you put on it to engage, educate and inspire your students?

HyperDocs, a transformative, interactive Google Doc replacing the worksheet method of delivering instruction, is the ultimate change agent in the blended learning classroom. With strong educational philosophies built into each one, HyperDocs have the potential to shift the way you instruct with technology. They are created by teachers and given to students to engage, educate, and inspire learning. It’s not about teaching technology, it’s about using the technology to TEACH.  (Hyperdocs, 2017)

So many free hyperdoc creations ready for use.  All you have to do in your Google Drive is choose Make a Copy!
